I have something absolutely abhorrent on my mind, but rather than discuss it now, it would only be proper to commemorate the commencement of this American blog with something a bit more appropriate.
First and foremost, I am a Roman Catholic. And I am American.
Yesterday, the 8th of December, Catholics around the world celebrated the Feast of The Immaculate Conception, which generally means that we had a Mass in honor of the Virgin Mary’s purity.
Why do Catholics believe that the Virgin Mary was conceived and remained without sin throughout her life? Because the Bible describes her as “full of grace.” She herself said that ”all generations shall call me blessed“.
According to John, Jesus was born ”full of grace and truth.” Since Jesus was born of Mary’s flesh, both her flesh and his were pure and without sin.
To deny Mary’s purity is to deny our Lord’s divinity, because if she wasn’t pure since the moment of her conception, then Jesus was born like the rest of us into sin. Jesus was like us in all things, including the flesh, but without sin. We all have inherited our fallen human nature (concupiscence), being born into sin, but Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit within her purity.
This is what the Bible confirms and the Church teaches us.
Just as all Israel honored the Ark of the Covenant, Catholics honor Mary as the vessel that brought us our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I am no theologian, just a catechized Catholic who understands her Faith.
And since this is my blog, I deem it appropriate to begin with what is most important to me before I continue..
.. now on to politics and Americana.
